Seeking Desperate Measures with Underoath- Xbox contest!

*CONTEST* Underoath has come out with their new album, "Lost in the Sound of Separation"! To celebrate, they're giving away a new Xbox 360 :)  Enter to win!

Christian metal rockers Underoath are back on the scene with their latest album “Lost in the Sound of Separation.” Lead vocalist Spencer Chamberlain recently took some time out from the band's insane tour schedule to talk about life, music and how the band's sound has progressed over the years.

On the band's unique name: Believe it or not, the name is totally random and came from a guy who never played with the band! The guys ended up liking it and “it just stuck,” Chamberlain said.

On managing personal time and a busy tour schedule: Technology is a big necessity for the guys of Underoath, and cell phones are the go-to item to stay in touch with loved ones. The other must-have for touring? Sleep! Without it, the guys say touring is tough. “As long as we get rest, we are OK, but sometimes it seems that it doesn't happen overseas.”

On the change of style in their new record, “Lost in the Sound of Separation,” versus their previous album, “Define the Great Line: Stepping outside of the box on the new album allowed the band to achieve a “heavier,” “darker” sound. The band has grown in the last 2 years since “Define” was released, and wanted to go “way past what we would feel is standard for us,” Chamberlain said. “I think we all went above and beyond anything we could have done before.”

On making sure the Underoath sound stayed true: After forming 10 years ago and going through several line-up changes, Chamberlain thinks that “most of us agree that Underoath is finally Underoath now,” he said. “We know what we want and what we don't want, and are finally making the music we truly love.” You might think that with six determined musicians in one hard-working band, it would be hard to come to an agreement. It is not always easy, but the guys know that when all six of them agree on a song, it's ready for the record.

On how their Christianity influences the band's music: The members of Underoath are Christian, but it doesn't mean the guys define themselves as only a Christian band. The band puts out songs about life and their faith comes through on the record, Chamberlain said.

On how social networking sites like MySpace influence bands today: As the music industry evolves with new technology, sites like MySpace are where fans go to check out bands. Underoath's keyboardist Christopher Dudley keeps up with the band's MySpace profile and likes to respond to as many fan messages as possible.

That's good news for all you Underoath fans on MySpace – be sure to add SuperPoke! to your profile so you can “seek desperate measures with” your friends, or even the band!
